PS4 suspend/resume in stand-by mode feature still in development

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida recently said that the company is still working on the suspend/resume in sleep mode feature that was promised for the PS4 last year. Basically what this feature does is allow users to suspend their game at the exact moment they’re playing it, put their PS4 in sleep mode and when they boot it up the next time they’ve got time to play they directly resume from that point in the game without having to go through any initial loading screens or visiting the PS4 menu.

Yoshida says this feature is still in development and will come sometime in the future:

The development team that handles the system software is the most disappointed by the fact that it hasn’t been implemented yet. And so, we keep developing it doing our best. It’s a fact that we haven’t yet done what we hoped to achieve, but continue to develop whilst thinking “We can do this”. Even if we’re not yet able to announce when it’ll be released.

By all means this is a feature I can wait on. It needs to be 100% fleshed out whenever it goes live. If that means waiting far into 2014 or even 2015, I’m willing to give Sony time to work it out.
