Rumor: Best Buy to offer 100% extra credit on trades in June 3rd ad

Here’s a great deal, one that is timed well before E3 if true. This deal comes from a Best Buy employee over at CAG.

Apparently Best Buy will be running an almost never before seen trade-in promotion on used games with their weekly ad that will being June 3rd and last until that coming Saturday.

This promotion will net you 100% extra store credit for your games than normal. Let me explain this. Trade in X game for $15 at Best Buy locations that accept used game trades. You will get an additional 100% trade-in credit based off the credit you receive for the game, in this scenario you get $30 for that one $15 game.

It basically means double credit no matter what. This will be a great way to offload some older games that are collecting dust, and if Best Buy does pull the trigger with this deal you can bet I’ll be there with quite a few items.

Capcom trademarks new game ‘Remember Me’

Capcom has filed for a trademark in the US and Europe for a new game dubbed “Remember Me”.

Unless this is brain training game involving zombies trying to piece together the mystery of how math can find them fresh brains to get tonight then I can say I have absolutely no idea what this could be about.

Suffice to say we will probably learn more about it at E3.

BioWare will sell Mass Effect hoodies designed by fans

This is a pretty cool move by BioWare and EA.

DeviantArtist Christine Schott came up with the pictured designs for Mass Effect themed hoodies a while back. It turns out BioWare loved them as much as everyone else did.

Schott makes it clear that the designs you see above aren’t the final look, and BioWare will revise them before selling them. She will get a cut of the profits as well for all her hard work.

Havok VP praises Wii U

Dave Gargan, VP of Engineering at Havok, recently had some high praises for Nintendo’s upcoming home console. He said:

“The platform has its own unique features, and has its own challenges as well. When we come across any new particular platform, we optimize specifically for some of the advantages that those platforms offer over other platforms, and Wii U has specific advantages that no other platform has, and we optimize directly for those, right down at the level of accessing the hardware. I think we’ll see things done on the Wii U that we won’t see on another platforms… I think people will be genuinely excited with the range of titles they’re going to see come out.”

Will GTA V release this fall? Some think so

GameFly Media’s editorial director Garnett Lee has stated in a recent podcast that Rockstar will be debuting a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 at Microsoft’s E3 press conference and that GTA V will release later this year on consoles.

Now, he may not know anything. He could just be making his best guess, so I’d keep this one labeled rumor until Microsoft’s E3 presser.

Wii U CPU may be 20x as powerful as Wii

The Wii U’s CPU is rumored to be a pretty beastly piece of tech.

Wii U Daily is reporting that they have a source that has told them to expect the Wii U’s CPU to based off the Power 7 IBM Express Chipset 710.

They go into detail saying the version of this CPU heading into the Wii U normally can have more than four cores at 3.7Ghz but Nintendo has scaled it back to ship with four cores (running two threads each) at 3Ghz. They say it will end up being 20x more powerful than the CPU in the Nintendo Wii.

This is just a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, none of this information looks outrageous and could likely end up true.

Wii U dev kit rumors

Here are even more rumors about the current Wii U developer kits. E3 is approaching so hopefully some of this information gets revealed to be true or false soon.

- Video Chat is available, but must be accessed from the main menu of the system
- Voice Commands are available
- Facial recognition
- Ability to suspend games
- share achievements with friends by sending videos or screenshots with drawings on them
- watch a friend play online
- Multitasking

Multi-tasking and the ability to watch a friend play online might explain some of the rumored 512MB of RAM that is reserved for the Wii U’s operating system. The ability to suspend games and come back whenever you want would make sense as well.

Rumor: Assassin’s Creed 3, Ghost Recon for Vita revealed?

Certain particular retailers in Europe have added (and taken down) listings for two unrevealed Vita games.

One has a listing for a PS Vita port of Assassin’s Creed III, and another retailer lists Ghost Recon: Final Mission for Sony’s latest handheld. While Ghost Recon is new, Assassin’s Creed looks to be a port of the upcoming console game.

I sincerely hope this isn’t what Sony thinks will save the Vita at E3. Ports of Assassin’s Creed III, Sly Cooper 4, among others aren’t going to do the job since there will be superior console versions that would be better to play unless you have no other means to get them than the Vita.

Square Enix responds to Activision cancelling True Crime: “That shit cray!”

Ok, so President of Square Enix US Mike Fischer didn’t say “that shit cray” when he spoke with Venturebeat about Activision cancelling True Crime: Hong Kong. Since then Square Enix has picked up United Front’s game and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.

Fischer had this comment on the original cancellation of the game: “Obviously the game was originally True Crime: Hong Kong from Activision. I can’t speak to why they let that go. I’m not going to speculate on their behalf. All I know is, they’ve gotta be crazy. Because this game is just fantastic.”

Obviously he isn’t going to badmouth his own company’s product but it is nice to see something talented game developers were working on be saved from the brink of annihilation.

Fischer elaborated: “In a sense it reminds me a little bit of Dead Island, which Square Enix America did the sales and distribution for. Nobody had heard of that game coming into E3, and in the U.S. alone it sold over 2 million units. It’s great to have a sleeper.”

Sleeping Dogs should be releasing by the end of the summer for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Natsume teasing game announcement

Natsume, makers of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory, are teasing a game related announcement. They’ve said the announcement contains a celebration of sorts and relates to a franchise that has three installments already and isn’t a new IP.

We all know this throws out Harvest Moon. Chances are it’s likely some sort of special edition Rune Factory 4, but they do have a good amount of IPs so it could be anything.

Natsume tweeted: “A weekend treat for you guys: We’re gonna sneak out an announcement next week, and YOU, our loyal followers, are all going to get it early!”

We won’t have to wait long to find out.

Rumor: Halo 4 multiplayer footage leaks on YouTube

YouTube user Skid Kid has uploaded a video that, after two minutes of extreme weirdness, finally begins showing what looks like Halo 4 multiplayer. It appears to be a match of Slayer on a map called Warhorse. Reminder the Halo footage starts after two minutes and lasts until the end. You’re going to want to turn down your speakers by the way. Trust me.

Important things that look different. You can choose where your ordinance drops, you can sprint without it being an ability, and there looks to be some damage from falling. You also get instant respawns and sprint lasts a lot longer than it did in Halo Reach.

There is also an awesome railgun. Weapon changing is faster. More details as we see them, we’re rewatching it as much as possible before it gets taken down. This looks pretty real, but we must stress this could all be some crazy scenario where it ends up being a fake leak. I don’t know, it looks really legit but I’m still taking this with a grain of salt.

There aren’t weapon attachments or upgrades like Call of Duty. You can spring by clicking down on the left stick.

Update: The user appears to be watching this Halo 4 footage on VHS in a barn. This is getting so very odd. We’ll keep up with more updates as they come in. It gets even more crazy. It seems the person who put the video on YouTube also got in trouble for trying to steal a game from PAX East in 2010. No, really. Not 100% on this, but this might be the video’s uploader. The users over at NeoGAF have undercovered this information about the identity of the person leaking this video like this, as stated by GAF user MendicantBS:

I searched his username and it lead me to a modding site (I don’t want to get in trouble so i won’t post the link), that site lead me to this story:

http://www.planetxbox360.com/article…_Still_Running

Apparently he tried to steal a game back in Pax East 2010.

Update 3: Now the person who uploaded the video on YouTube is leaking more details. There is a new weapon called the Storm Rifle, which is suppose to be a new version of the Plasma Rifle. Other news is that you can actually spawn into a match with a shotgun already instead of having to find one each spawn. You can’t spawn with a sniper rifle though.

This appears to be early beta footage so it could have changed by now.

He’s promising on Twitter to show even more videos later (if his account isn’t destroyed) including a snow map.

A Microsoft spokesperson had this to say about the footage: “We are conducting an internal beta test of Halo 4 which is a standard development practice for most video games. We have no plans for a public multiplayer beta for Halo 4.”

This looks be legit then.

Leave a comment and let us know what you think about this peculiar look at Halo 4′s multiplayer!
