Mario Maker won’t have multiplayer

It doesn’t look like Mario Maker, an inventive Mario platformer with a focus on user-generated levels, won’t support multiplayer. Nintendo’s Takashi Tezuka ruled out multiplayer in a recent interview, saying:

Yes, I would like to use other characters, for one, and as far as multiplayer, I’m pretty set on probably not. What’s important about this game is the creation part, and we really want to focus on that.

This is disappointing news to say the least. I understand that Nintendo is focusing on getting the core concept, solid level creation, completely right/

But multiplayer, even if its only two players locally, makes so much sense for Mario Maker. I’d think it would add to the potential sales of the game.

    That’s really sad.

When you think about it more closely, you could construe it as multiplayer in the sense that one player can design the level, then pass the controller over to someone to have them test the level
