Mass Effect 3: Co-op multi-player revealed

Mass Effect 3 is getting some co-op multi-player
By Kevin Douglas Femmel
(Oct. 10th, 2011) — We all knew this was coming, Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer support. EA mandated a while back that all titles going forward had to have some sort of multiplayer, and Dead Space 2 was one of the first to add a multiplayer component to a successful single player game.
Mass Effect 3 won’t be getting your normal Team Deathmatch, and you won’t be rushing to capture the asari’s heart before your opponents do. Instead, Mass Effect 3 will feature online co-op. Details are scarce, so we don’t know how many people will be able to play together or if this is some sort of challenge mode or story based.
My guess is that it is an entirely different experience that is detached from the story. Mass Effect 3 will bring the Reapers to your home on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in March 2012.
UPDATE: The multi-player portion of the game will be called Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War. It will feature 4 player co-op that isn’t really connected to the story and it will be entirely optional. Players will create custom characters in the multiplayer and won’t be playing as any of the characters from the story. Saved games from previous Mass Effect games will not impact co-op, and it will have a story of its own.
