Hello, there welcome to Gimme Gimme Games!
Let me introduce myself, my name is Kevin.
I love playing video games. Gaming has virtually replaced television in my house. I have a laundry list of games I need to play again, as well as an even longer list of games I want to buy in the future. But like many of you, I am not made of money. (Okay, I suppose none of you are made of money, what with the need for real organs, etc.)
If I could afford every game the day it comes out, at its initial price I’d have a serious problem. For my own good, I guess, I can’t afford to do that. On the other hand, I have become a crafty gaming shopper. I’m always looking for the latest deals, specials, and price drops to satisfy me gaming needs.
Additionally, I don’t really agree with the numerical system most gaming outlets use to rate/review video games. Putting a number, on any scale, isn’t entirely descriptive of the software’s actual worth. So my approach to the game reviews that I will post in the future, is based off the value I feel I’ve gotten out of the title. If I feel a game is worth $50 with its robust online multi-player experience, then I would rate it a $50 value at the time of review. Also I hope to add deeper input in my critiques of games then just how much I’d pay for a title.
For example, that robust online multi-player game I just spoke of? What if you’re only interested in the single player campaign? Maybe you don’t have internet at the moment, can’t pay a subscription fee for said online functionality, but for whatever reason you can’t play the title with the many people waiting online to join you. Well then that game wouldn’t live up to its $50 value that I said it deserved for you, now would it?
So if the single player campaign was pretty good, not stellar but not bad by any means, I’d rate it at say, a $20 value. Obviously you aren’t going to pay $60 for a good $20 experience, unless you want to go into debt. I will try to make multiple value ratings when nessecary for all titles and describe the ways you can get the most value out of your purchase.
I also plan to focus more on hot deals, specials, and price drops. You may see reviews for older titles, some that may be 6 months or even older. Because I want to direct to a place to buy “X Game” at a low low price, why not go buy “X Game” myself and give you my personal review of its value as a game? So while I will try to put in my two cents about the latest and greatest video game releases, across the platforms of PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii, and Playstation 3, please expect the bulk of this site to focus on older game releases.
Thanks for checking out the site, please leave comments and if you’ve found a deal on some killer games, please email them to [email protected].
I hope that you and I both, get more game for our buck during the time we know each other.
