Nintendo Switch Online Launches Second Half of September

Nintendo of America posted on Twitter this weekend that the Nintendo Switch’s paid online service will launch in the second half of September.

That means you will have to start paying $19.99 per year (or $34.99 per year for 8 accounts on a single system) to play games like Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2 and others online.

As of now the only features we know of for Switch’s online are cloud saves and the downloadable NES games with online play. Sadly, Nintendo has revealed any additional features like parties, media apps like Netflix, or voice chat on the system instead of via a smartphone app (when Fortnite proves its possible on system).

Hopefully Switch online surprises us all and isn’t just a paywall for the existing system.
