Rumor: NBA JAM remake in development

A report came out this week indicating that NBA JAM will be coming back in 2018. ESPN is reporting that iconic NBA JAM announcer Tim Kitzrow is working with some game developer to remake the 1993 classic for its 25th anniversary.

Kitzrow told ESPN:

I can’t speak anything to the specifics, but I can tell you there is movement in the works to get it done for the 25th year. So I’m hoping that we get a remake that does justice to the original.

Strangely enough, Kitzrow says he’s working with Microsoft on the remake. Electronic Arts currently owns the licensing rights for it and even released a new version of JAM in 2010. Microsoft probably wouldn’t play a role in this and a remade NBA JAM would likely be available on multiple platforms.

Hopefully this gets released in time for the game’s anniversary this year. If I had to guess, I’d wager that it will come out on Xbox, PS4, Switch and PC around the time of the start of the 2018-19 NBA Season in October.
