Nintendo: Zelda Breath of the Wild has taken 4 years and over 300 employees to make

Not only is Zelda Breath of the Wild the biggest game in terms of content Nintendo has made, its the largest production they’ve ever committed to.

Zelda series director Eiji Aonuma said recently that development of Breath of the Wild has taken 4 years, likely starting sometime in late 2012 or early 2013. It doesn’t stop there, Aonuma added that over 300 Nintendo staff members have worked on the game.

It certainly sounds like Nintendo let the production grow and grow with Breath of the Wild. We’ve heard about hundreds, if not a thousand, people working on games like Assassin’s Creed and GTA in the past but this is the first time I’ve heard of a Nintendo title taking several hundreds of developers to make.

Hopefully its all worth it when Breath of the Wild releases March 3!
