Naughty Dog: Uncharted 4 will have ‘divisive’ ending, open to 5th game by another studio
Naughty Dog says the ending they’ve created for Uncharted 4 will be “divisive”. Game director Neil Druckmann said this recently:
I think people will discuss the ending. If focus tests are anything to go by, there will be some arguments about the ending. I’m excited. Indifference would be the worst thing. I would rather have people hate it than be indifferent to it. We’ll see how they react.
In addition to this, Naughty Dog says they are open to the idea of another studio developing Uncharted 5. Druckmann added this about a potential game from a studio that wasn’t them.
If they made a great game I’d be excited. I’d want to play an Uncharted I didn’t work on. It’d be a lot of fun. Obviously we would have a big part in it as the creators of the franchise, we’d just want to make sure they get the essence of it right.
We’re just about a month out from Nathan Drake’s big finale. The ending talk is a huge tease. Will Drake die? Will everyone he loves die for him? Are we in for a Last of Us type ending that makes us ask whose really playing the game and whose actions and wishes are being fufilled, the player or the character? Well see May 10th!
