Fire Emblem Fates loses strange petting mini-game in US version

Nintendo has confirmed that the petting mini-game in the Japanese version of Fire Emblem Fates won’t be making it to the west. In a statement today, they defended its appropriateness in Japanese culture while acknowledging it wouldn’t fit with western audiences:

Yes, that is the case. You might have heard somewhat misinterpreted or exaggerated information about the Japanese original game, but even in the Japanese original version, we have not included any features which are considered inappropriate in Japan.

What is this petting mini-game you ask? Well, players could literally rub and pet other characters whom they were building relationships with. These characters would then have some pretty suggestive things to say about it.

Its a necessary change if you ask me. While it may pass in Japan, its more than a little odd in America.
