3DS passes 20M units sold LTD in Japan
The Nintendo 3DS released in February 2011 in Japan. It had a rocky start but after a huge price cut the system took off in Japan. Though sales are declining, Nintendo just passed 20M units sold in Japan this past Christmas week.
This is a milestone for the handheld that no one thought would do as well as it has back in July 2011. Congratulations Nintendo, you’ve proven there is still demand for a dedicated handheld platform even if that demand has diminished since the advent of smart phones and tablets.
