Nintendo reveals new Smash Bros Wii U modes, characters and more

Today Nintendo held a stream revealing 50 things about the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. One of these items was a brand new 8-player Smash mode. Yes, that ups the player count in the already hectic multiplayer game to double what it use to be.

In addition to that a party mode, called Smash Tour, replaces Smash Run, on the Wii U version. This puts players on a game board and if they happen to land on the same spot as another player, all players are called into battle. This works similar to Mario Party and Smash Run while keeping the main focus on actual fighting.

Stadium games like break the targets and home run will be multiplayer.

There is also a stage editor in the game, a feature that didn’t make it into the 3DS version.

Mewtwo will be released as a DLC character for free if you buy both the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game. He won’t be available until Spring 2015 and no price was announced for consumers who only buy one version but its good to see him returning.
