Blizzard cancels MMO project ‘Titan’
Blizzard has revealed that their long in development, next-gen MMO Titan, has been cancelled. The game had never been officially revealed by the developer though they had talked about it a few times.
Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime had this to say about Titan, which had been in development for roughly 7 years:
We didn’t find the fun. We didn’t find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that’s the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.
I can’t imagine how much longer it will be before we see another new IP from Blizzard. They’re losing the WoW base slowly though Diablo 3 seems to be a game they can ride out another year or two.
Then again, Blizzard has made a living out of taking their sweet time with game development and re-selling old games so no one should really doubt their next big IP after the cancellation of Titan.
