Destiny Expansion Pass announced, Playstation exclusive content won’t hit Xbox until Fall 2015
Bungie detailed Destiny’s first few DLC packs today, revealing two rather large expansions. Instead of us explaining what these are, let Bungie explain it to you:
Expand your Destiny adventure with brand-new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer arenas, and all wealth of all new weapons, armor, and gear to earn. The Destiny Expansion Pass includes Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below and Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves. In The Dark Below, you’ll discover an ancient tomb has been unsealed. Beneath the surface of the Moon, a dark god has answered centuries of prayer, and a dark army has risen. Explore the true depths of the Hellmouth. Stop the dark Hive ritual and survive.
Here’s the most interesting part. This Destiny Expansion Pass will have exclusive Playstation content that Xbox gamers won’t get to play. When will this exclusivity end? Bungie says:
As an added bonus for PlayStation platforms, the Destiny Expansion pass will also include additional exclusive content for Expansion I and II that will remain exclusive until at least Fall of 2015.
Fall 2015 is a long time to wait for content released in late 2014 or mid 2015. Sony really did a good job snagging exclusive content to make the PS3/PS4 version of Destiny seem like the definitive version.
Of course its still kind of irritating to see such a big game have its post-release DLC revealed two months before it hits shelves, begging the question of why some of it isn’t included on the disc and not on the pass. But hey, its Activision! We just have to expect these things from them sadly.
