Assassin’s Creed Unity is ‘start of new cycle’ for franchise
Ubisoft wants Assassin’s Creed fans to know that this holiday’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity for PS4/Xbox One is the start of a new “cycle” of Creed games. The game debuts a new main character with an entirely different story so hopefully the plot will be much better this time around.
It’s a new start, it’s a new narrative start. That is symbolized by a completely new context for the present day. You’ve seen a little bit of an evolution with Black Flag, we’re not going to do the same thing. What we’re doing with Unity is really the beginning this new cycle of Assassin’s Creed games. Because it’s new, we can actually explain it properly because nobody is going to feel like it’s redundant. I would say that Assassin’s Creed Unity is the best entry point for the franchise since Assassin’s Creed 1.
I’m sort of surprised the Assassin’s Creed franchise has stayed popular so long. Unity will be the eighth installment since 2007. That’s 8 in 7 years!
Still, Unity promises some great new twists like streamlining aspects of the franchise to be less mundane and frustrating as well as the new co-op that sounds fun.
We’ll have to wait to see if this new “cycle” of Assassin’s Creed games are better than the last which had their fair share of mishaps.
