Nintendo denies rumors of new hardware at E3

Nintendo has stated to CVG that they won’t be showing any new hardware at E3.

The company denied this rumor again to Eurogamer today too, making a total of two denials so far. They told Eurogamer:

We definitely aren’t announcing hardware at this year’s E3

Of course, the rumor of Nintendo releasing new hardware at E3 was a bit out there. I said the whole time that I didn’t think they’d announce a new console or even a new handheld this year. A new model of the 3DS or Wii U though, I could see that happening but I still doubt it.

Remember folks, Nintendo denied the DS Lite, DSi, and 3DS XL all weeks before announcing them. Shigeru Miyamoto even said in the summer of 2012 that he believed the original 3DS had a near perfect design and didn’t need to be re-done. Then they announced the 3DS XL in late June.

So take Nintendo’s own word with a grain of salt. They wouldn’t confirm something new if they didn’t want to do so yet but I’d also go into E3 expecting nothing and not hold Nintendo accountability when they don’t announce anything.
