Microsoft may boost XB1 performance without Kinect

Microsoft is currently looking at freeing up some of the Xbox One’s resources that normally go towards Kinect for Xbox One systems that don’t use the camera add-on.

Speaking to Polygon, Yusuf Mehdi said this:

We are in discussions with our game publishers about what we might do in this space and we will have more to talk about soon.

For reference, 10% of the Xbox One’s GPU is dedicated to Kinect at all times. While this wouldn’t give the system a huge boost in performance, it would be nice for those who never plan on using Kinect.

Don’t think this will somehow end the endless articles about a game running in a lower resolution on Xbox One than PS4 though, this 10% will be a very minor difference though it is greatly appreciated.
