Sony: We love that people are still interested in The Last Guardian

Sony’s Scott Rohde says that he and the company really “love” how Team Ico fans still can’t stop talking The Last Guardian. You know, that spiritual sequel to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus that was announced like 5 years ago but hasn’t seen the light of day since?

Rohde dodges the question about whether the game is still on PS3 or moved to PS4 with some comments he made recently, saying:

I’m not going to announce what platform it’s coming on, who’s working on it, who’s involved. But that is still a title that’s absolutely in the mix at Worldwide Studios. That’s the most you’re gonna get

Scott eventually went onto to say that he enjoys talking about The Last Guardian despite the broken hearts of fans everywhere making every conversation a little bit more hostile as we continue to lose hope in the game ever coming out. Rohde says:

I love that people are still interested in it. That’s an honor to us. That’s not just me spinning… It’s really cool that people are still interested in it, and we’re trying to make the best thing we can out of The Last Guardian

It sounds like Sony is still developing The Last Guardian. If we don’t see it sometime this year I don’t think we’ll ever see it. Then again, I’ve said that past years. An E3 reveal of the game for PS4 would probably break the internet or at least Twitter.

My guess is that the game hasn’t been in development for a long time and Team Ico is working on something else or it has been moved to the PS4 and will hopefully be shown off again soon.

If I was Sony I’d think about waiting until the game was six months away from completion to re-announce it because at this point I don’t think anyone would believe it would have any better of a chance at releasing with just a random new trailer.
