Nintendo strongly hints at Majora’s Mask 3D

Eiji Aonuma, Zelda series director, spoke at the New York Comic-Con earlier today. His speech centered almost entirely on the upcoming 3DS game, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

A fan asked him, for probably the millionth time, if he will make Majora’s Mask 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. Ever since Ocarina of Time 3D shipped in 2011 fans have been clamoring for Nintendo to remake the other N64 Zelda. It used a lot of assets from Ocarina of Time so a lot of the work is already done for the game.

Aonuma actually teased Zelda fans this time and said this when he was asked about remaking Majora’s Mask on 3DS during Comic-Con:

Finish this game (A Link Between Worlds). That may answer your question.

That’s a pretty bold statement from Aonuma. This seems like a direct tease about a Majora’s Mask remake. We’ve already posted about how Majora’s Mask already ties into A Link Between Worlds so it looks like Nintendo is setting up for something big.

Will A Link Between Worlds put the nail in the coffin of Majora’s Mask 3D? Or is Aonuma teasing us, hinting that when the game ships on November 22nd that it will contain something confirming that a 3DS remake of Majora’s Mask is in the works? Sadly we’ll have to wait to find out.
