Switch outsells Wii U’s lifetime sales in under a year, Mario Odyssey sells 9M

The Nintendo Switch is a runaway success that no one could have seen coming, after the Wii U. Nintendo has had trouble keeping up with demand and now they’re reporting that the Switch has sold 14.86 million units since launching last March.

For reference the Wii U took five years to sell 13.56 million systems. So the Switch outsold the Wii U’s lifetime sales in just ten months!

This is,… there are few words to describe this type of turn around.

In other news, Switch games are also selling super well. Nintendo says there are 8 separate million selling Switch games including Super Mario Odyssey which has somehow sold 9 million copies since October.

Hopefully Nintendo can keep up with demand and deliver even more great games in 2018 to keep this momentum going.
