Shenmue III trailer’s awfully animated faces removed from game
Earlier this week, Ys Net released a new trailer for Shenmue III and immediately fans noticed how bad the faces of characters like Ryo looked.
It turns out the faces in all character models were removed a month ago and that Ys Net will only use these awkward, comically bad faces for this single trailer. They will be different in the final game, which is expected to ship in the second half of 2018.
Yu Suzuki said this in a new interview:
Yes, we haven’t yet put in the facial expressions. Until a month ago, we had put in the facial animations, but for the moment, they’ve been removed.
That’s good to hear because if Ryo’s deadpan expression made it into the final game I don’t know what I’d do. Staring at that for 30+ hours for an adventure fans have been waiting 17 years for would be disappointing to say the least.
