Monster Hunter XX demo out on Switch Japanese eShop now

While Capcom isn’t bringing the game to the U.S. until after Monster Hunter World releases on other consoles, Nintendo Switch owners can download a demo of Monster Hunter XX from the Japanese eShop right now.

The game is listed under the “coming soon” section of the eShop. The demo is not in English so it will be difficult to navigate unless you’re using something like Google Translate from your phone.

This is the closest western fans will get to Monster Hunter on the Switch, the platform everyone thought the series would go to after leaving the 3DS. At E3 in June, Capcom announced their next main Monster Hunter game would not be for Switch and that Monster Hunter World, which for all intents and purposes is Monster Hunter 5, will be for PS4/Xbox One and PC.

Monster Hunter XX is essentially an expanded version of the 3DS game, Monster Hunter Generations, here in the U.S. It may come to the west after World releases in early 2018 but at this point Capcom isn’t saying anything.
