LawBreakers coming to PS4 later this year
Cliffy B’s latest game, Lawbreakers, looks to freshen up the online shooter genre. His new studio, Boss Key Productions, announced today that the PC shooter will also come to PS4 later this year. In addition to this, the game will cost $29.99 for all content and future updates. It was originally planned to be free to play, a decision Cliff said on the Playstation Blog that Boss Key reconsidered recently. Cliff Bleszinski started a PS Blog post today by saying the thing that was on everyone’s mind as we all read it:
Alright, let’s be honest. 10 years ago, who the hell thought I’d be here? Well, here I am writing a guest column on the PlayStation Blog.
The man behind Gears of War, one of the biggest Xbox 360 exclusives during the past generation, is making a game for PC and PS4. An Xbox One version of Lawbreakers has not been announced. Wrap your head around that one!
Here is how Cliff describes Lawbreakers:
The setting is the perfect backdrop for a super fast, omni-directional team-based FPS where we challenge players to get the hell off the ground. The floor is lava, bruh. It’s the skill-based competitive shooter made by shooter fans for shooter players that my team and I have always wanted to play. It honors the old and embraces the new. Old being the feeling of soaring through the air at mach-speed and rocket-jumping and such. The new as offering a variety of characters each with different movement abilities, multiple weapons, combos and more.

Here’s a short story: The week after Christmas I took a trip to New Orleans and saw Cliffy B with his wife on Canal Street, near Bourbon. I fought every urge to not shout out to him and thank him for his work in the hobby I love so much, as a big fan of Gears of War and of the older Unreal titles. They looked like they had just finished shopping so sadly I held my tongue, something I regret today lol. A simple “thanks for all the games Cliffy!” probably would have been good but then again, who likes being interrupted on their vacation.
So you can tell I’m looking forward to playing Lawbreakers and the PS4 version appears to be the only console version for now. If you need convincing on Lawbreakers, check out the game’s trailer below.
