PS Now support for PS3, Vita and TVs ending in August, will be PS4+PC only

Sony has announced that they will end PS Now support on PS Vita, Playstation TV and PS3 later this year. On August 15, 2017 they will cease support on the following platforms:

PlayStation 3
PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV
All 2013, 2014, 2015 Sony Bravia TV models
All Sony Blu-ray player models
All Samsung TV models

They didn’t provide many details about this change, just saying that they want to focus on supporting Now through PC and PS4.

After thoughtful consideration, we decided to shift our focus and resources to PS4 and Windows PC to further develop and improve the user experience on these two devices. This move puts us in the best position to grow the service even further. If you use any of the above devices, we want to give our heartfelt thanks for your support, and we hope you’ll continue with us. Remember that all of your PS Now cloud game saves can easily be accessed on both PS4 and Windows PC.

With this news, you’ve got to wonder if they’re considering ending other PS3/Vita services. They could very well drop free PS3/Vita games from the monthly PS+ game lineup. They could potentially offer PS Now rentals in place of free PS3 and Vita games every month though I’m not sure how well that would go over.
