Rockstar: Over 1,000 people worked on GTA V

GTA V had a record breaking budget of reportedly $260 million. Now, it has come out that over 1,000 people worked on the game’s development. Rockstar’s Andy Semple had this to say:

It’s probably more, much more (than 1,000). And that’s because of the size of the thing, we are modelling at such a minute detail. Once upon a time the car models have four moving parts. Now there are 15 alone in a car’s retractable roof. The detail is ten, twenty times greater than GTA IV, so it takes ten, twenty times more people.

Over 1,000 staff working on the game and $260 million spent with more than $1 billion in profit made in the first few weeks yet Rockstar still couldn’t get GTA Online to run smoothly on day one? I know they warned us about GTA Online’s issues but that doesn’t excuse the existence of those problems.

I mean, $1 billion in pure profit in two weeks. Think about that for a second. A quarter of a billion dollars spent developing the game and Rockstar couldn’t have taken the necessary precautions to get an online game with a huge user base like GTA Online to work right?

Overall I’d say GTA V is a huge success so far and I’m not talking about the amount of copies it has sold. I’m loving every minute of it so far personally.
