Platinum: Bayonetta 2 development hasn’t ‘reached its peak’
In a recent interview, Platinum’s Hideki Kamiya gave an update on the development of Bayonetta 2. Some were hoping for an early or even mid-2014 release but that doesn’t seem so likely anymore.
Kamiya says that the game hasn’t hit its “peak” in development which makes it sound like it may not be half way complete.
Of course, it depends at which stage of development a game is in. At this moment in time, it’s sort of meaningless to compare the two. Bayonetta 2 hasn’t necessarily reached its peak of development and when we get to that point, you would add staff. In that regard, it’s hard to say if one is bigger than the other. [It just] depends on where it’s at
Platinum has spoken about their desire to port the original Bayonetta to the Wii U. If Bayonetta 2 isn’t coming out until summer or even fall 2014 then perhaps they will have time to port over the original game to the Wii U. It would serve as a good marketing tactic for the sequel and can’t cost all that much.
I was hoping for a Q1 or Q2 release for the game but if it hasn’t reached its peak than that doesn’t look likely. Maybe if we knew whether Platinum considers a game’s developmental “peak” to occur after the half way point or not we’d be able to gauge when it is most likely to come out.
