Based on a leak by Engadet/Joystiq it looks like the PS Vita may not be getting in on the Call of Duty: Ghosts love this year.
The websites posted an article talking about the new COD title earlier today before it was pulled. This would indicate that they may have had PR material from Activision that was embargoed. If they were just speculating then they would have left the post active.
They confirmed the platforms for the game and Sony’s handheld was absent:
It’s arriving on a whole mess of platforms this November 6th, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC, but also PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox. It’s also likely we’ll see a handheld version on Nintendo’s 3DS made by someone other than Infinity Ward, but we’ve got no direct word on that just yet
Odd that Activision may be choosing to go with a 3DS version instead of a Vita version. While Declassified was panned by critics it did sell a lot of copies last year.
Nihilistic Software isn’t in the business of developing games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified anymore so perhaps Activision is using that as an excuse for no Vita version this year. I don’t see why they can’t hire a new developer, particularly the one making this rumored 3DS spin-off, for the Vita.
In addition to Engadet/Joystiq, Eurogamer has confirmed the platforms for this game and once again PS Vita is not one of them.
We’ll have to wait and see if Engadet/Joystiq’s information sticks. If they weren’t posting anything that was embargoed why take it down? Either way I believe a tuned down port of the game would be a great fit on the Vita, especially seeing as how well Declassified sold despite being terrible and on a platform with a small user base.Rumor: COD Ghosts not coming to PS Vita,
