Sony has announced that SCEJ, SCE of Asia and SCE of Pan-Asia are no more as of today. The timing is pretty bad since this seems like it should be an April Fools joke but it isn’t. Its officially on Sony’s Japanese website.
In the place of these three different parts of SCE Sony has formed Sony Computer Entertainment Japan/Asia which will be lead by Hiroshi Kawano.
Its a bold move by Sony but I’m not sure what long-term changes this may be bring. Perhaps the customers of SCE-Asia and Pan-Asia will get more new releases at the same time as SCEJ releases?
I’m not sure how releases played out in those regions in the past but it should be a good thing that all three regions can work together as a unit now.
