Our friend Menashe over at Nintendo Enthusiast has another juicy rumor for you. This one is going to be music to a Wii U owners ears.
The same retail source that told Nintendo Enthusiast accurate info about the eventual revealing of Assassin’s Creed IV and Watch Dogs has informed them that Grand Theft Auto V was being tested on the Wii U at some point recently.
This source emphasizes that having GTA V up and running on the console means nothing. They remind us that Crytek had Crysis 3 nearly completed on Wii U but EA decided to not release it on Nintendo’s new platform.
I would hope Take-Two and Rockstar would be more open to the idea of GTA on Wii U than EA was to Crysis 3 on it. Take-Two would make a lot of money off a Wii U port of the game and create a fanbase on Nintendo consoles for the series. I’d wager it would sell at least 2 million units.
In addition to GTA V, this same source says Ubisoft is testing Rainbow Six: Patriots on the Wii U as well. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Ubisoft has supported the Wii U very well with Zombi U, Rayman Legends, Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed IV, Watch Dogs, and more.
I’d be surprised if Rainbow Six DIDN’T come to the Wii U.
Take this rumor with a grain of salt but I’d bet on at least the Rainbow Six part coming true. Its very likely Rockstar has at least expressed interest in GTA V on Wii U but how far they’ve gotten with that idea has yet to be seen.
