Nintendo of America’s PR head Marc Franklin recently spoke in an interview about the eventual Zelda game on Wii U. While I’m sure he doesn’t know too much about the game there is the chance he has had a passing glance at it while in development.
Franklin stated that the first original Zelda game on Wii U will be different from the Wind Waker, obviously with fans interpreting this as meaning it won’t have a cel-shaded, cartoony art style. Franklin said:
You look at Wind Waker, we’re remastering the game in HD, that’s going to be a great experience, and we’ve announced Zelda HD for Wii U, which is going to be an entirely new take on Zelda (in comparison). That’s what people appreciate: being able to have those different experiences.
Eiji Aonuma and company have been forward in the past by saying that this new Wii U Zelda game will be different from past entries. They’ve said they are looking at all the traditional mechanics and staples of the series and changing them if need be.
Whenever the first original Zelda game comes out for Wii U it is sure to be a big moment for the franchise just by being the first HD Zelda game.Nintendo: Wii U Zelda will be 'an entirely new take on Zelda',
