Nintendo: Wii U sales will improve after July once first party games come out
Nintendo stated at their investors meeting that they believe Wii U hardware sales will improve from July and onwards. They cite the fact that they’re just then going to be getting out a lot of first party software.
Pikmin 3 is set for an early August release, Game & Wario for late June (in America) and Wonderful 101 and Wii Fit U are supposed to ship this summer. Hopefully Nintendo is correct and Wii U hardware sales improve. The console could certainly use some stellar Nintendo first party support.
I’m not sure Capt. Olimar will be the person to turn the system’s sales around but perhaps Wii Fit U will do the job whenever it releases.
It is going be a brutal wait for the Wii U to see improved sales. I doubt Wario moves any units in June at all. Unless Wii Fit U comes out in July (which they would’ve already given it a release date if it was) then we won’t see sales improve until Pikmin comes out. Even then whatever spike in sales from Pikmin 3 likely won’t be seen until September.
