Nintendo not hosting ‘large-scale presentation’ at E3
There are mixed messages coming out about what exactly Nintendo said in their investors meeting about their E3 presentation. They’ve stated that for America they will focus on several smaller events. A translation of their investors meeting statements indicates that Nintendo may not be holding an E3 presentation at all.
Nintendo said (If the translation is wrong forgive me):
First, we have decided not to hold a large-scale presentation where new news is presented to a general audience from all over the world as in previous years. Instead, we are planning several smaller events for software targeted at the American market. One of these will be a closed event for distributors, and another will be a closed event for the Western press. I did not appear in last years presentation, and I do not intend to appear in these events either. Apart from these closed events, during E3, we are deliberating how to deliver game information to those at home using new methods, so we will announce further plans later.
It sounds like Nintendo will not be holding a traditional E3 keynote this year. This disappoints me greatly. I live for E3. Okay, I don’t live for it but it is like Christmas in June. I have faith in Nintendo to have multiple amazing Nintendo Directs that could be even better than anyone’s E3.
Still, I hope this gets cleared up and isn’t true. I really want to see Nintendo host an E3 keynote but from this statement it appears they may not be holding one. At least not in the traditional sense.
