In a recent interview Xavier Poix from Ubisoft stated that he believes Rayman Legends can still be a system seller for the Wii U. He says:
“Selling a new way of playing can take some time, and we know the power of the brands from Nintendo and we know from the fans that the majority of what will be the system sellers are not yet available. And on our side, Rayman will be one of them for sure. We really expect Rayman to be a huge system seller on the console.”
I do think that losing Legends as an exclusive will hurt any potential Wii U systems the game was going to push. As much as I love Rayman I don’t see it as a system seller for any console outside of a small niche group of diehard Rayman fans.
Ubisoft is supporting the Wii U better than any other third party with Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV and III, Zombi U and Rayman. Let’s hope they continue to make up for the 7-month delay of Legends and give Wii U owners even more reason to come back to them after so many of them were angered.
I’d say getting Watch Dogs is a pretty even trade for Wii U owners.
