Last chance: Predictions for tonight’s PS Meeting 2013

In a few short hours the whole world will get a glimpse into Sony’s next-gen game plan as they reveal the next Playstation home console. Whether its called the PS4 or the PS Orbis or something else, it is sure to send shockwaves through the industry.

Here are our last second predictions for the PS4′s reveal tonight and the overall event.

Tech demos galore!

I can’t imagine that we’ll see many actual game reveals tonight. Sure, Guerilla Games and some Sony first-party studios will show off a few games but I think we’ll see a lot more tech demos than actual gameplay footage. This was the case during the PS3′s reveal in 2005 and I’m thinking it will be the same today.

Tons of upcoming current gen games get PS4 versions

Its no secret that a lot of people think games like Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313 could be next-gen games. They already look the part, and while Watch Dogs is coming to 360/PS3 I’d bet on a lot of these games coming to the PS4 at launch. Even more upcoming 360/PS3 games will get prettier PS4 versions at launch, like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty 2013, Destiny, GTA V and others.

At least one impressive first party game will be shown

I’d put my money on Killzone 4 making its debut tonight. Sony typically likes to use the franchise as a graphics showcase and I see no reason to change that now. If rumors are true about the console having 4GB RAM I can’t wait to see what those developers can do with that much memory considering the miracles they worked with 256MB.

The PS Vita will get a price drop to $199 in America, no memory card price cut

The Vita’s price got cut to $215 USD in Japan a few days ago and its a safe bet to say that Sony will cut its price in the US too. I’d wager it will drop down to $199 but I wouldn’t hold your breath on a memory card price cut. Sony will be losing a lot of money on each Vita sold, especially at $199. Overcharging on the memory cards is one way for them to make up some of that lost money.

The PS4′s OS will take up a huge portion of that 4GB+ RAM

Images of the PS4′s controller seem to indicate that the rumored “share” button could be a real thing. If the PS4 does allow users to record and stream gameplay as speculated in the past we predict that this will take up a sizable chunk of the console’s OS.

How much it takes up will make the difference. If the console ships with 4GB RAM and the OS takes up 1GB like the Wii U’s Miiverse, internet browser do then we could be looking at a console with 3GB usable memory for developers.

Sony will have at least one meme worthy moment

It would be a major console reveal for Sony if they didn’t provide us with a comical moment that the internet turns into a meme. It won’t be intentional but they just can’t help themselves. They’re always doing it and I don’t think of us want that to change.

Nothing as terrible as the infamous “FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS” will happen but I’m sure Sony will provide us with a laugh or two tonight. Perhaps they’ll continue with the marketing of “Oh yay another Mario game” while revealing another Ratchet, Resistance, Killzone, etc.

Those are just some of our predictions for tonight’s event. Not all of them will come true, and I’m sure you’ve got some predictions of your own. Let us know in the comments below what you think will happen tonight when Sony takes the stage and reveals their next-gen console.
