First concept art for Monolith’s 3DS game revealed

Some concept art for Monolith Software’s 3DS game has surfaced online.

The first image shows some trees with smirks on their faces and a female character with an animal like companion. It may seem obvious to some but I would wager this game is shaping up to be a RPG. The art style is immediately impressive but of course we need to see more of it before we make a judgement on the game’s art direction.

Monolith Software recently revealed X for the Wii U. They seem awfully busy so I’m not sure when this game may be fully revealed. If we go by the timeline of when we first saw concept art for X and how long it took to see actual in-game footage we may have to wait 6 more months to see this 3DS game in action.

The Kyoto team at Monolith Software has been known to be working on a 3DS game since they formed so its a safe bet this isn’t related to any other Wii U projects as the other half of the studio is likely busy with X on the Wii U. Some of the text in the image says that the team is looking to hire people to work on this project so it may not be too far along in development. Or perhaps they’re looking for designers for the last big push on the game’s development.

What are your thoughts on the art?
