Electronic Arts admits that Medal of Honor: Warfighter didn’t so well when it debuted on store shelves this past October. It got lost in the shuffle during a period when a bunch of big shooting games were released. Borderlands 2, Halo 4, Black Ops 2, etc.
EA says that the Medal of Honor IP is going to be benched for the time being. They aren’t likely to make any new MOH games for a while and will focus on the Battlefield series for now.
EA says:
“What we think right now is that, for the next couple years, we can just have one great thing in that space. So we’re choosing for it to be Battlefield.”
Bad news for Medal of Honor fans. Its ironic that Call of Duty and Battlefield, two series that debuted after Medal of Honor hit consoles and PCs back in the late 90′s, basically pushed the series to the position it is now.
Too many mediocre Medal of Honor installments and poor marketing by EA didn’t help anything either. Making Medal of Honor play like a simpler version of Battlefield made things worse.
EA: Medal of Honor franchise on hold, will focus on Battlefield for near future,
