Capcom: RE6 ‘lost momentum’ and failed to ‘achieve planned sales’
Capcom may have had positive words today for Dragon’s Dogma and Monster Hunter Tri G but they didn’t shy away from stating how Resident Evil 6 underperformed.
Capcom said today that Resident Evil 6 was selling great at first but then fell off a cliff, saying:
The flagship title “Resident Evil 6” (for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), despite recording brisk sales when it debuted, subsequently lost its momentum, resulting in the failure to achieve planned sales and fulfill its role as a driver of sales expansion.
Yikes. Using the term ‘failure’ so close to a marquee title like Resident Evil isn’t something Capcom wanted. Its no secret that the game debuted strongly in terms of sales and then took one of the biggest nose dives in recent memory.
Resident Evil 6 can be found for $20 almost every week here in the US. It debuted to mediocre reviews back in October and Capcom clearly isn’t happy with how it performed at retail.
