A NeoGAF user sent an email to XSEED games recently and asked them if they have plans to bring anymore Fatal Frame games to the west. Recent Fatal Frame games on the Wii didn’t release outside of Japan.

XSEED’s response is not what any of us wanted to hear. They responded with this:

Afraid that we have no intention of trying to publish any Fatal Frame titles. Speaking to Tecmo Koei America is going to be your best bet for that title.

It appears that it it up to Nintendo or Tecmo Koei to bring the Fatal Frame series back to the US. Last year Nintendo published a Fatal Frame spin-off, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir, for the Nintendo 3DS. There were rumors last year that Nintendo had purchased a stake in the Fatal Frame IP and that they gained exclusive rights to it.

Hopefully that means Nintendo plans to revive the series in the west at some point. Forgive me if I don’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Seems like we may have seen the last of the Fatal Frame franchise in America for the time being.
