Rumor: Lego City: Undercover releasing March 17th

Lego City: Undercover is a game people have been waiting for a while. By that I mean that people have been demanding an open-world, Grand Theft Auto-like Lego game for the past half decade.

They are finally getting what they want with Lego City: Undercover on the Wii U. The game is still scheduled to arrive during Nintendo’s “launch window” which ends on March 31st. Despite the game having some new media released recently there is still no release date. Now we may have a date for our open-world LEGO shenanigans.

This rumor comes from Target’s online store. The retailer is currently listing Lego City: Undercover for a release date on March 17th, 2013. This day would be a Sunday. Typically Nintendo only releases games on Sundays but a release on a weekend isn’t out of the question for the game. It is certainly a better release date estimate than GameStop’s generic March 1st offering.

Is Target not enough evidence for you? Well it turns out that Toys’R'Us also says the game will come out on March 17th. Too much coincidence to ignore I’d say.

We’ll have to wait and see if Lego City hits stores on March 17th but it seems as good to me. If the game is really going to make it out during the “launch window” it will need a formal release date announcement soon and will probably take 2 months to get all its copies ready for shipping.
