Nintendo officially reveals Wii U Virtual Console, coming Spring 2013
One of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry, Nintendo announced today that they are adding GameCube games to the Wii U Virtual Console service.
They will release the Wii U Virtual Console service during Spring 2013, after a system update.
All Virtual Console will games like support Off-TV Play. But if you will have to repurchase your games at a slight discount. Prices will stay the same as they were on the Wii. You could get a discount of $1 to $1.50 per title, as Iwata pointed out this morning.
There will be select NES games avaiable for 30 cents in an April campaign where Nintendo will put up some classic NES games. All Virtual Console games will support Miiverse, at least the Wii U versions of them. It appears they have been reworked for the Wii U and aren’t entirely ports of the Wii version.
In addition to this Nintendo is adding the Game Boy Advance as one of the Virtual Console platforms. These games appear to be coming to the Wii U, there was no mention of the 3DS during the presentation.
