Mother 2 releasing on Japanese Virtual Console on March 20th

Earthbound/Mother fans, there is some positive news from Nintendo for you. No, there isn’t a new game in the acclaimed but long dead RPG series.

But Nintendo is finally releasing Mother on the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan. The classic will be made available on March 20th and will sold for only 30 Yen in celebration of the NES’s 30th anniversary

There is no word on if or when this game will come to the west. I know you’re already dreading the thought of having to wait anxiously for this news to show up in your RSS feeds. Let’s just hope it does for now but not get our expectations up too high. At least Nintendo is releasing (Whether its a re-release or not) something Mother related.

That’s more progress than they’ve made in over 10 years, in regards to reviving the Mother franchise.
