Wii U system update adds support for 3TB hard drives
Reports are coming in across the web from multiple Wii U users that their 3TB USB hard drives now work with Nintendo’s new console. This is likely a result of that 600MB system update that was released yesterday.
But you should note that the system doesn’t actual read the entire 3TB drive. Before it wouldn’t even recognize a 3TB drive, but now it will. Only problem is that it will still only be able to see 2TBs of space on that 3TB drive.
That’s a bummer and a weird move on Nintendo’s part to allow them to work, but not to allow that last TB of data to be used.
Nintendo’s own website still says drives shouldn’t go past 2TB, but it looks like they are working for some people now.
We don’t have a 3TB USB HDD to test ourselves so if you’ve got one let us know if anything has changed.
