No new characters in Paper Mario: Sticker Star because Miyamoto didn’t want any
In a recent interview Kensuke Tanabe from Nintendo explained why their aren’t any new characters in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. In past Paper Mario games Intelligent Systems has introduced new characters via Mario’s allies like Paratroopa, Twink and Kolorado.
“However, for Sticker Star, Mr Miyamoto asked us to create a game using only characters already found in the Mario world rather and not any of our own. “
So that explains why Paper Mario: Sticker Star doesn’t feature any secondary characters to control during battles. The lack of secondary characters probably led to the sticker-based battle system.
I find this very odd that Shigeru Miyamoto would tell them to not add any new characters to the Mario universe. It’s not like the characters they’d add would ever appear in other games, so this is a puzzling move that clearly effect the overall design of the game.
Do you wish Miyamoto hadn’t requested no new characters in Paper Mario: Sticker Star?
