Rumor: GameCube games coming to Virtual Console for Wii U
The latest issue of Retro Gamer has a very interesting tidbit of information. In a section about the Wii U it says this:
“Backwards compatibility with Wii will be included but you’ll no longer be able to play GameCube titles. They’ll be on the Virtual Console store instead.”
They don’t say that Nintendo has confirmed that Cube games will be available but there is the chance that they know something we don’t know.
GameCube games on the Wii U make so much sense it would be baffling for Nintendo to not bring them to the new system’s Virtual Console. It is surprising we haven’t got confirmation yet.
A few months ago a Nintendo magazine published a preview for the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 but the game hadn’t been announced at that time for the system. Of course Black Ops 2 ended up coming to the Wii U but for whatever reason Nintendo didn’t reveal that information until months later.
We’ll have to wait and see if Retro Gamer ends up being correct on this one.
