Rumor: Director of Resident Evil films reveals that a Monster Hunter movie is ‘in the planning’
Film director Paul W.S. Anderson has leaked some pretty big news. While he is mostly known for directing the commercially successful yet critically panned film series based on Capcom’s Resident Evil he is about to be known for making the film adaptation of another video game series.
And it’s another Capcom game!
Paul Anderson recently stated in an interview that he’d like to work on a Monster Hunter film, but he actually revealed that work has started on bringing the series to the big screen. Anderson said:
“Recently, I’ve been loving Monster Hunter! A film conversion is currently in planning.”
Unless Anderson got his wires crossed this is as close to a confirmation as you can get. I’m sure this is related to the “big” Monster Hunter news Capcom keeps teasing. Possibly the film would release in a few years and Capcom would decide to finally localize an older Monster Hunter game, like 3G or MH4.
No word on when the film will come out or begin production but it looks like Anderson is open for the project.
