Obsidian Entertainment recently had an interesting conversation with a fan on Facebook.
After a little back and forth between the fan and whoever manages Obsidian’s Facebook account, the Facebook user asked if Obsidian would like to work on a proper Knights of the Old Republic 3.
To this Obsidian responded, “Ohhh we would so love to!!!”. This of course means Obsidian isn’t working on it at the moment obviously.
EA and BioWare have indicated that The Old Republic MMO is essentially all we’ll get in the way of things titled “Of the Old Republic” in the near future. But with the MMO floundering and going free to play there is a small chance EA would perform a 180 and greenlight a proper KOTOR sequel.
As many of you remember, Obsidian’s KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords ended a bit abruptly due to being rushed to meet a release date. The game (spoilers) ended with the Exile heading out to the outer reaches of space to confront a threat greater than the Sith. Darth Revan from the original KOTOR is said to be out there as well.
Fans have been demanding a third KOTOR game for years not just because the gameplay is still better than some action-RPG’s but because of this cliff-hanger ending. There is no video game announcement I want more than a legit Knights of the Old Republic 3. I loved both games and they consumed so much of my life years ago. Every character was amazing and the story deserves a fleshed out conclusion.
I don’t think we’ll see KOTOR 3 anytime soon though I’d love to be wrong on this!
Obsidian 'would so love' to make Knights of the Old Republic 3,
